Marian to travel
to Germantown
for playoff game
MECHANICSBURG — Marian’s football team will enter the first round of the PIAA Class A playoffs on Friday.
The District 11 champion Colts will oppose District 12 champion Bishop McDevitt at 7 p.m. Friday at Germantown High School.
Friday’s winner will face either District 2 champion Old Forge or District 4 champion Wellsboro the next weekend.
Officials named
for all-star game
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — A District 11 officiating crew has volunteered to work Wednesday’s Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association North-South All-Star Game at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rotary Field.
The crew consists of Jim Toomey, Mike Klembara, Fred McDonald, Jeff Newhard, Matt Revenis, Jim Carney, Greg Mentzer and Jay Richmond.
The game will feature players from 16 area schools. It will include the induction of four men into the association’s hall of fame.
Whitmoyer gets 2nd-place award
GILBERTSVILLE — Hamburg’s Craig Whitmoyer was honored at a track-sponsored dinner Saturday night for placing second in the sportsman division points in the 2015 season at Grandview Speedway.
Whitmoyer scored 3,698 points to place behind track champion Brett Kressley, Orefield, who had 4,023.
Oley’s Craig Von Dohren was the track’s 358 modifieds champion. Duane Howard was second and Jeff Strunk was third. Jared Umbenhauer was named Rookie of the Year and Tim Buckwalter was named Most Improved Driver.
