Capitals recall Brown from Bears

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Washington Capitals have recalled right wing Chris Brown from the AHL’s Hershey Bears on Thursday.

Brown had registered one goal and one assist with Hershey this season.

The move follows Hershey’s 2-1, overtime victory over the Providence Bruins on Wednesday night. Paul Carey scored both goals for the Bears, including the game-winner with 1:17 left in overtime.

Goalie Justin Peters recorded 27 saves in Hershey’s fourth straight win.

Hunters score increase in bears over 2014 season

HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania’s bear hunters bagged 2,487 bruins during the first three days of the statewide bear season, the Pennsylvania Game Commission announced.

The total is an increase of 198 bears over the first three days of the 2014 season.

Schuylkill County yielded 20 bear kills, second to Dauphin County’s 22 in the Southeast Region.

Lycoming County posted the most bear kills with 222.
