JIM THORPE — A couple of rivals will square off of the Panther Valley Tip-Off Tournament championship tonight.
Matt Yedsena scored a game-high 22 points as Mahanoy Area advanced to the finals with a 58-46 victory over Jim Thorpe in the first game of the tournament Friday night.
In the nightcap, Branden Mohammed scored 12 points and Josh Inama added 11 as Marian topped Panther Valley 58-46.
The Golden Bears and Colts will play for the championship at 7:30 tonight. Jim Thorpe and Panther Valley meet at 6 in the consolation game.
Mike Wronski added 10 points for the Golden Bears in their victory as Mahanoy Area finished the night with 11 3-pointers. The win was also the first for new coach Ethan Eichhorst.
Chris Micciche and Rayan Green had 16 points apiece for Jim Thorpe, while Brendan Carroll added 10.
Tristan Blasko finished with a game-high 16 points for the Panthers against Marian, while Rene Figueroa had 12 points and Matt Hudicka added 10.

The Vikings led 21-6 early, but Halifax tied the game at 46 with 1:06 left. Dylan Wolfgang converted a putback and Peppe Mini made two free throws to spark Williams Valley at the end.
Wolfgang finished with 12 points.

The top-seeded Hepler and the second-seeded Schaeffer had two pins apiece to reach the final four.
