Tri-Valley’s Hepler
earns Top Hat title
WILLIAMSPORT — With three falls and a major decision, Sammy Hepler won the 132-pound championship at the 42nd annual Tom Best Top Hat Wrestling Tournament.
In the finals, Hepler posted a 16-6 major decision over Bald Eagle Area’s Seth Koleno.
Chase Schaeffer (160) placed third, while Kolt Schaeffer (182) finished sixth.
Tri-Valley finished 13th in the 20-team field. Jersey Shore won the team title, 201-181 over Central Mountain. Hazleton (150.5) was third.
Panthers go 4-1
at Jim Thorpe Duals
JIM THORPE — Tanner Kennedy (138) and Hunter Kennedy (145) both went 5-0 to help Panther Valley post four victories at the Jim Thorpe Duals.
The Panthers fell to Cedar Cliff 51-22 but defeated Conestoga Valley 42-31, Jim Thorpe 50-15, Dieruff 41-25 and Wyoming Valley West 42-34.
Ali Capobianco (152) went 4-1 for the Panthers.
Lehighton places 4th
at Bullet Invitational
TOPTON — Connor Frey won the 195-pound title as Lehighton finished fourth in the 12-team Bullet Invitational at Brandywine Heights.
In the finals, Frey beat Manheim Central’s Brock Fittery by technical fall, 20-5 in 4:58.
Central Dauphin won the team title with 255.5 points, followed by Central York (175.5), Manheim Central (161) and Lehighton (151.5).
Nathan Kemmerer (106), Zach Kemmerer (126) and Cody Scherer (160) were runners-up for the Indians.
Tegan Durishin (152) and Dylan Schock (170) finished third; Chris Whiteman (132) and Cody Semmel (145) placed fifth; Antonio Lorenzo (120) and Logan Berger (220) took sixth.
Hamburg crowns
pair at Avon Grove
WEST GROVE — Hamburg’s Matt James (160) and Ignacio Reynoso (182) captured championships at the eight-team Avon Grove Tournament.
Jacob Johnson was the runner-up at 126 for the Hawks, while Shane Strausser (106), Reese Mason (152) and David Madera (195) took thirds.

at Wyalusing duals
WYALUSING — Tristin Naus won by fall as Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech defeated Elk Lake 36-21 for its lone win at the Gary Woodruff Memorial Duals at Wyalusing High School.
The Rams went 1-4 on the day, falling to Lackawanna Trail 48-27, Wyalusing 84-0, Wallenpaupack 72-12 and Blue Ridge 51-9.
Tunkhannock went 5-0 to win the championship. Wyalusing and Shikellamy both finished 4-1.
