Schlitzer paces Surrey to win
SURREY, England — Pottsville and Philadelphia University graduate Nick Schlitzer had one of his best offensive games as a professional Friday in leading the Surrey Scorchers to a 96-82 victory over the Manchester Giants in a British Basketball League contest at Surrey Sports Park.
Schlitzer poured in a team-high 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including a 3-of-4 showing from 3-point land. He also had 5 rebounds.
K.C. Ross-Miller and Christian Behrens added 20 points apiece for Surrey, which raced out to a 55-31 halftime lead. The victory was the third straight for the Scorchers (6-5).
Surrey’s next game is Friday, Dec. 19, against the Worcester Wolves.

earns MAC honor
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan 133-pounder Corey Keener was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week after posting a pair of dominating victories.
Keener, a former Blue Mountain standout, scored an 11-3 major decision over Austin Eicher of Northern Illinois last Thursday, then on Sunday earned a 21-6 technical fall over Michigan State’s Patrick Bloomer, upping his season record to 6-2.
The Chippewas (4-0) are ranked 21st in the nation in Division I.
