Blue Mountain made a statement Monday night.
It says: The Eagles are going to be a factor in the Schuylkill League Division I girls’ basketball race this season.
Jillian Moyer’s free throw with 6.9 seconds left lifted Blue Mountain to a 47-46 victory over Pottsville in a battle of unbeatens at Martz Hall.
Trailing 46-43, the Crimson Tide’s Sadie Cresswell made her fourth 3-pointer of the night to tie the game with 46.6 seconds to play.
On Blue Mountain’s next possession, Moyer got fouled with Pottsville in the double bonus. She missed the first free throw but made the second to put the Eagles on top.
Pottsville had a chance to win, but a shot by Madison Sherakas hit the rim and fell out. The Tide got the rebound as time expired.
Abby Fanelli led Blue Mountain with a game-high 25 points, including a 7-for-7 effort from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.
Moyer finished with 10 points, Julia Kutz grabbed 10 rebounds and Angelica Kaledas added eight rebounds and four assists.
Kyra Schenk scored 13 of her team-high 20 points in the second half to spark Pottsville. Cresswell finished with 14 points.

JIM THORPE — Monday’s Division I game between Lehighton and Jim Thorpe was postponed due to a bomb threat at Jim Thorpe, sources reported.
The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Jim Thorpe. The Olympians’ game scheduled with MMI for tonight is moved to Wednesday.
