Evans' hat trick propels Tide by Nativity

Gabrielle Evans had a hat trick, while Kyra Bulino and Gabriella Bentz added two goals apiece as Pottsville rolled past Nativity 8-1 during a non-league girls' soccer contest Saturday atop Lawton's Hill.

Keegan White scored Nativity's goal in 14th minute to pull the Green Wave to within 2-1, but the Crimson Tide put in six unanswered goals to remained perfect on the season.

Pottsville held a 38-7 advantage in shots on goal.

Hamburg places 2nd at Seitzinger tourney

HAMBURG - Eastern York's Lauren Baver scored an unassisted goal with less than 3 minutes left in the game as Eastern York downed Hamburg 2-1 in the championship game of the 4th annual Taylor N. Seitzinger Tournament on Hawk Hill.

Alicia Pursell had two assists in the tourney for the Hawks, who reached the championship game by beating Blue Mountain 2-1 in the semifinals.

The Eagles then lost to Muhlenberg in the consolation game, falling 4-3 on penalty kicks after the game ended in a 1-1 tie after regulation.

Eastern York advanced to the finals with a 5-4 edge in penalty kicks against the Muhls after their semifinal also ended in a 1-all tie.

Tri-Valley 2 Pine Grove 1

HEGINS - Brittany Smeltz and Taylor Header tallied first-half goals to lift the Dawgs to a non-league win over the Cardinals at Bulldog Stadium.

Jessica Fath netted Pine Grove's goal in the 31st minute. Tri-Valley won despite being outshot 11-7.

Tamaqua 4 Palmerton 1

PAMLERTON - Rachel Jones, Lynn Kistler, Moniko Shimko and Morgan Boyle each had a goal as the Raiders downed the Blue Bombers in a non-league contest.

Jones scored in the 37th minute to get Tamaqua on the board, while Kistler, Shimko and Boyle tallied second-half goals to help the Blue Raiders pull away from the Bombers.

Carly Sassaman had eight saves for Tamaqua.

Jim Thorpe 4 Lehighton 0

JIM THORPE - Rebecca Cressman had two goals and an assist in the first half as the Olympians broke out to an early advantage and went on to blank the Indians in a non-league contest.

Cressman set up Ilse Hassler in the 2nd minute to give Jim Thorpe the lead. Cat Condly added a second-half goal for the Olympians, who earned their first victory of the season.

Alyssa Smith had 10 saves for Jim Thorpe to earn the shutout.
