NEW SCHAEFFERTOWN - Austin Freeman had a hat trick, including the game winner in double overtime, as the Hawks came from behind to down Trojans in a non-league contest.
Freeman scored in the 35th minute, tied the game at 2 in the 73rd and put in the winner during the 96th minute when he got the ball at mid-field, dribbled through three defenders and scored from about 30 yards out.

High School Volleyball Perkiomen Valley wins Pottsville Tourney
Perkiomen Valley completed a nearly perfect day to win the Pottsville Gatorade Tournament.
The District 1 team followed an 8-1 record, losing only to Blue Mountain, in pool play before topping Nativity in two games in the semifinals and edging defending champion Pottsville, 22-25, 25-21, 16-14, in the championship match.
Pottsville won its pool with an 8-1 record, including a hard-fought 15-25, 25-18, 25-23 victory over pool runner-up Nativity.

MINERSVILLE - Freshman outside hitter Erica Nettles posted eight kills to help the Miners (3-3) to a 14-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-10 comeback victory over the Red Raiders (0-6) in a non-league match.
Freshman Emily Bartashus helped the Battlin' Miners with six kills and 11 digs, while Cassidy Mason posted 20 assists and eight digs.
Minersville won JV 2-0.

Cross country PSU-Schuylkill woman wins Brandywine race
MEDIA - Penn State Schuylkill sophomore Hayley Burnhauser opened her 2013 season by winning the women's race at the Penn State Brandywine Invitational. Her time was 21:28 on the 5K course.
Burnhauser, a Pottsville High graduate, earned second-team All-America honors by placing ninth at last year's USCAA Cross Country National Meet.
For the men, PSU-Schuylkill's Andrew Slovick placed 30th, running the 8K race in 42:11.
