Dawgs sweep Devils

SHENANDOAH - Tri-Valley regained a share of the Schuylkill League Division IV girls' volleyball lead Tuesday when it defeated Shenandoah Valley in three games.

While Division III leader Halifax fell in three games to Marian, the Bulldogs controlled Shenandoah Valley 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 behind seven kills and 10 digs by senior outside hitter Jordan Schwalm. Sophomore middle hitter Cat Troutman added six kills, while Reagan Newswanger posted 21 assists.

Shenandoah Valley was paced by Mariah Sands' three aces, four kills and seven assists. Kristen Florio added seven kills and six digs for the Devils, while Alaina Demalis posted nine digs.

Tri-Valley won JV 2-1.

Pottsville 3 Lourdes 0

COAL TOWNSHIP - Mariah Curry scored seven kills to direct Pottsville to a 25-4, 25-15, 25-11 Division I-II crossover victory over the Red Raiders.

Hannah Corbacio paced the Crimson Tide by issuing 14 assists along with serving one ace and pounding two kills. Madison Sterner added three kills and two digs.

Pottsville won JV 2-0.

Blue Mountain 3 Schuylkill Haven 0

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Corrine Foster and Brittney Moyer combined for 17 kills as Blue Mountain rolled to a 25-18, 25-5, 25-11 Division I-II crossover sweep of Schuylkill Haven.

Foster posted nine kills and Moyer had eight kills, 11 digs and two aces to pace the Eagles. Lexi Hammer added 27 assists, four kills and six aces.

For Schuylkill Haven, Kayla Hartz and Malory Medaglia each had two kills and two digs. Madison Felty added three blocks.

Blue Mountain won the JV match 2-1.

Mahanoy Area 3 Tamaqua 0

MAHANOY CITY - Noel Kaufman posted six kills, three blocks and two aces to direct Mahanoy Area past Tamaqua 25-23, 25-14, 26-24 in a Division I-II crossover.

The Golden Bears added four aces, three kills and one block by Rylee Kane, four kills by Mychaellah Lucas and two blocks and three aces by Marcella Scheeler.

For Tamaqua, Carly Trovinger had six assists, five kills and four digs. Jaclin Valasek earned four kills and five digs and Alexis Baddick notched two kills.

Mahanoy Area won JV 2-1.

Panther Valley 3 North Schuylkill 0

LANSFORD - Jamie Mickovich recorded 11 kills, seven service points, seven digs, two blocks and an assist as the Panthers defeated the Spartans 26-24, 25-20, 25-14 in a Division I-II crossover.

Kelsey Van Horn added five kills, six assists and five service points, while teammate Marley Mickovich had three kills, 10 service points and six digs.

Panther Valley won JV 2-0.

Nativity 3 Millersburg 0

Emily Field recorded 10 kills, eight assists, six digs and two aces to lead the Green Wave to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-16 victory over the Indians atop Lawton's Hill.

Tara Ketterer had five kills, four blocks and one dig, while teammate Noelle Steele had seven assists, four digs, one kill, one block and one ace in the Nativity win.

Jessica Millard scored five kills, 12 assists and two aces and Taryn Herb recorded three kills and 10 assists for Millersburg.

Nativity won JV 2-0.

Minersville 3 Upper Dauphin 0

MINERSVILLE - Mackenzie O'Brien recorded seven kills and three blocks and Meg Schwalm added 12 digs and three aces as the Miners beat the Trojans 25-21, 25-14, 25-20 in a Division III-IV crossover match.

Maura Bentz had five aces in the Minersville victory.

Whitni Rudisill paced Upper Dauphin with three kills and one block. McKenzie Miller added seven assists and four digs.

Minersville won JV 2-1.

Weatherly 3 Williams Valley 0

WEATHERLY - Kristen Ursta's seven aces and three kills spurred the Lady Wreckers to the victory.

Shannon Sarosky led the winners with nine assists, three digs and one ace. Samantha Hartz checked in with seven aces, five digs and two aces, while Lexi Hartz had six kills, two aces and one assist.

Weatherly won JV 2-0.

Pine Grove 3 Poc. Mtn. West 0

POCONO SUMMIT - Kayla Bressler collected nine kills and nine assists and Hayley Wolff added five kills as the Cardinals defeated the Panthers 25-12, 25-15, 25-10 in a non-league match.

Marla Stoner had 16 assists in the Pine Grove victory.

Pine Grove won JV 2-0.
