TAMAQUA - The Tamaqua Area School District will hold its annual winter "Meet the Raiders Night" at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Tamaqua High School Athletic Center.
Members of the boys' and girls' basketball teams, wrestling squad and swimming program, along with the cheerleaders, will be introduced. The Blue Raider pep band will also attend.
The event is free. If there is inclement weather, it will be canceled.
BLOOMSBURG - Bloomsburg University senior offensive lineman Brian Clarke has been named a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year for the second straight year.
Clarke, the Huskies' right guard, was named after helping Bloomsburg average 317.6 yards per game on the ground, fifth in NCAA Division II, this season.
FORESTVILLE - Big Diamond Speedway has put season passes for the track's 2014 season on sale.
The pass, which costs $345, entitles each purchaser free admission along with a reserved seat to each program. Each purchaser also receives a Big Diamond T-shirt.

The 2014 season begins with the March 23 practice. The first program is scheduled Sunday, March 30.
UNIVERSITY PARK - Penn State freshman quarterback Christian Hackenberg has been named the Big Ten Conference's Freshman of the Week for the fifth time in 2013.
Hackenberg, also named the Athlon Sports National Freshman of the Week on Sunday for the second time this season, threw for 339 yards and a season-best four touchdowns in Penn State's 31-24 win over Wisconsin in the Nittany Lions' season finale. Hackenberg went 21-for-30, did not throw an interception and was not sacked.
