Tobin paces Minersville to victory

HOMETOWN - Spencer Tobin scored four of Minersville's 11 overtime points as the Battlin' Miners maintained second place in Schuylkill League Division II with a 53-49 victory over Marian in a Division II-III crossover game Friday.

Tobin, who finished with 12 points, also forced overtime with a 3-pointer with 3 seconds remaining in regulation. Shameik Bethea and Dylan Ellinger scored 13 points apiece for Minersville.

Marian was paced by Anthony Agosti's 26 points, 16 rebounds and eight steals. Ethan Kuczynski added eight points for the Colts, who rallied from a four-point deficit after three quarters to lead until Tobin's shot tied the game.

Pottsville 66 Panther Valley 34

LANSFORD - Eli Nabholz scored 18 points and Travis Blankenhorn added 13 as the Crimson Tide clinched a spot in the District 11 Class AAA playoffs with a Division I victory over the Panthers.

Connor Hinchliffe added 10 for Pottsville.

Jake Szczecina led the Panthers with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

North Schuylkill 51 Pine Grove 35

PINE GROVE - Matt Manbeck recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Spartans downed the Cardinals in a Division I contest.

Major Jordan added 10 points for North Schuylkill in the victory.

Kobe D'Agostino led Pine Grove with 14 points.

Tamaqua 56 Jim Thorpe 40

JIM THORPE - Bo Rottet tallied 29 points to lead Tamaqua to a Divsion I victory over Jim Thorpe.

The Blue Raiders led by one point after the first quarter but used a 19-4, second-quarter edge to take a 31-15 lead into halftime.

Shane Snisky led the Olympians with 14 points.

Shenandoah Valley 43 Schuylkill Haven 36

SHENANDOAH - Angelo Maskornick recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as Shenandoah Valley beat Schuylkill Haven in a Division II-III crossover contest.

Kayin Herb scored three 3-pointers, including one in the fourth quarter, for a total of nine points to help the Blue Devils hang on for the win.

Ethan Conage had a game-high 13 points for the Hurricanes, while J.T. Hughes added 10.

Williams Valley 59 Weatherly 49

WEATHERLY - Nick Rodichok scored 23 points and went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line as Williams Valley topped Weatherly in a Division II-III contest.

Ben Rautzahn added 14 points and Stephen Sedesse 11 for the Vikings, who went 27-for-44 as a team from the line.

Williams Valley used a 22-10, fourth-quarter run to help it pull away for the win after the Vikings were down 39-37 at the end of the third.

KIPP-DuBois 68 Gillingham Charter 12

PHILADELPHIA - Isaiah Thompson and Romeo Murray scored five points apiece for the Wolf Pack in their lost to KIPP-DuBois.

Jahaad Everett Bay had a game-high 13 points for Speedboys in the win.

Juniata 52 Upper Dauphin 50

ELIZABETHVILLE - Matthew Miller scored 21 points, including two 3-pointers, and Mac Ney added 12 for Upper Dauphin but the Trojans fell to Juniata in a Tri-Valley League contest.

In the fourth quarter, Upper Dauphin came within two points led by Ney's seven points and Matthew Miller's three, but two free throws by Justin Mingle kept the Indians in front for good.

Girls' results Shenandoah Valley 60 Central Columbia 53

ALMEDIA - Kristina Nieddu's 24 points led the Blue Devils to a comeback, overtime victory in a non-league game against Central Columbia.

Shenandoah Valley trailed 29-14 at halftime and used a 21-7 fourth quarter to even the teams at the end of regulation. The Blue Devils outscored Central Columbia 9-2 in overtime.

Abby Snizer added 15 points for Shenandoah.

Upper Dauphin 42 Lan. Country Day 16

LANCASTER - Laura Sweger scored 10 points, with eight coming in the first quarter, as Upper Dauphin beat Lancaster Country Day in a non-league game.

McKenzie Miller scored the game's only 3-pointer for the Trojans in the win.
