Vikings rally by Tri-Valley

TOWER CITY - It had all the intensity of a typical Tri-Valley vs. Williams Valley event. And then some.

Alex Raho decisioned Kyle Stephen at 120 pounds in the final contested bout to give Williams Valley a 33-32 victory over Tri-Valley in a non-league wrestling match Monday night.

Tri-Valley (2-6) stormed out of the gate, as Caleb Bordner (132), Chase Schaeffer (138) and Hunter Harner (145) recorded first-period falls and Anthony Snyder (152) won by major decision to give the Dawgs a 22-0 lead.

The Vikings (4-8) were able to climb back into it thanks to three forfeits, and there were no bouts at 160 and 126 pounds. Still, Tri-Valley led when Mason White (195) won by fall and Sammy Hepler scored a major decision of Willy Girard at 106.

Freshman Dagan Dickinson gave the Vikings hope with a second-period fall at 113. Raho clinched the comeback with a 9-6 decision, giving the Vikings their third straight dual-meet win.

Pottsville 48 Tamaqua 27

Tyler Deiter (138), Kody Stencovage (145) and Brandon Kessock (152) recorded consecutive falls through the middleweights to propel the Crimson Tide (4-9, 1-1 D-I) to a Division I victory over the Blue Raiders (1-12, 0-2).

Tamaqua won six of the nine contested bouts, but surrendered five forfeits. Colin Mashack (126), Kyle Oliphant (195) and Colin Moyer (220) had pins for the Blue Raiders, while Tanner McHugh decisioned Richie Bentz 2-1 in a featured bout at 120.

Boys' Basketball Mahanoy Area 50 Schuylkill Haven 20

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Matt Yedsena drained three 3-pointers and scored 11 points and Larry McNeil added 11 more as the Golden Bears remained unbeaten with a Schuylkill League Division II-III crossover win over the Hurricanes.

Mahanoy Area hit eight 3-pointers, building a 28-7 halftime lead.

Hamburg 42 Brandywine Heights 40

HAMBURG - Josh Kisha scored the go-ahead bucket with 8 seconds remaining to lift the Hawks to a non-league victory over the Bullets.

Kisha finished with a game-high 18 points while Pat Barter had 17 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the Hawks.

Millersburg 73 Upper Dauphin 64

MILLERSBURG - Mac Ney scored 23 points for Upper Dauphin in a Tri-Valley League loss to Millersburg.

Brendan Nestor added 10 points for the Trojans.

Christian Wingard led the Indians with 17 points, including four 3-pointers.
