Pine Grove defeats Jim Thorpe

PINE GROVE - Kobe D'Agostino exploded for a career-high 36 points for Pine Grove's boys' basketball team as it defeated Jim Thorpe 60-57 in a Schuylkill League Division I game Thursday night.

D'Agostino scored 22 of his points in the second half. Jed Blankenhorn also had a banner night for the Cardinals with a career-high 14 points.

Pine Grove rallied from a 15-9, first-quarter deficit to earn the victory.

Bryce Micciche had a team-high 25 points for Jim Thorpe, which connected on seven 3-pointers.

Pottsville 43 Tamaqua 24

Pottsville maintained its first-place standing in Schuylkill League Division I with a victory over Tamaqua at Martz Hall.

Travis Blankenhorn scored 14 of his 23 points, which included four 3-pointers, in the first half. Eli Nabholz added 10 points as Pottsville rolled to a 29-7 halftime lead and rested its starters after the third period.

Bo Rottet scored eight points for Tamaqua.

Nativity 64 Marian 51

HOMETOWN - Jeff Yordy led three players in double figures with a 18 points as the Hilltoppers downed the Colts in a Division III contest.

Tyler Hunyara added 16 points and Kyle Kaledas 12 for Nativity, which got out to a lead 48-32 after three quarters.

Anthony Agosti had a game-high 22 points for Marian.

Mahanoy Area 61 Shenandoah Valley 29

MAHANOY CITY - Larry McNeil scored all 13 of his points in the first half as the Golden Bears remained unbeaten on the season with a Division III rout of the Blue Devils.

Dylan Mahmod also netted 13 points for Mahanoy Area, while Tyler Cavenas added 12. John Storm paced Shenandoah Valley with nine points.

Tri-Valley 46 Schuylkill Haven 29

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Jade Buchanan and Conrad Opozda scored 12 points apiece to lead the Bulldogs to a dominating Division II win over the Hurricanes.

Devin Masser added 11 points for Tri-Valley, which outscored Schuylkill Haven 12-2 in the third quarter.

Zavier Webb was the lone player in double figures, scoring 11 for the Hurricanes.

Blue Mountain 64 Panther Valley 47

LANSFORD - Will Bornstein (18), Kyle Slane (16) and Skyler Panchari (15) each scored in double figures as the Eagles downed the Panthers in a Division I contest.

Jake Szczecina scored 14 points and Kyle Ferryman added 11 for Panther Valley.

North Schuylkill 73 Poc. Mtn. Charter 26

TOBYHANNA - Matt Manbeck scored 14 points and Jake Damiter added 11 as North Schuylkill cruised to a non-league victory.

Up by five after the first quarter, the Spartans extended their lead to 37-16 at halftime.

Lincoln Leadership 63 Gillingham Charter 19

NEW PHILADELPHIA - Blake Broadhurst and Romeo Murray had five points apiece as the Wolf Pack dropped a non-league game to the Lions at the Simon Kramer Institute.

Dante Rockmore had a game-high 14 points for Lincoln Leadership Academy, which got out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter.

Upper Dauphin 68 Line Mountain 56

MANDATA - Matt Miller connected on five 3-pointers to tally a team-high 22 points and lead the Trojans to a Tri-Valley League win over the Eagles.

Mac Nye added 15 points and Alex Uhler scored seven of his 13 points in the fourth quarter for the Trojans, who outscored the Eagles 22-12 in the frame.

Kellan Masser led all scorers by netting 24 for Line Mountain.

Lourdes 51 North. Christian 42

COAL TOWNSHIP - Larry Czeponis had a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, to lift the Red Raiders to a non-league win over Northumberland Christian.

Jordan Fobia added 17 points for Lourdes.

Twin Valley 55 Hamburg 34

HAMBURG - Lloyd Sarnor had a game-high 17 points as the Raiders rolled past the Hawks in Berks Section II contest.

Pat Barter led Hamburg with nine points followed by Nick Schlottman and Josh Kisha, who added eight apiece.

Girls' Basketball Williams Valley 54 Upper Dauphin 31

ELIZABETHVILLE - Cassidy Pinchorski scored 17 points to lift Williams Valley to a non-league triumph over Upper Dauphin.

Williams Valley coasted to a 32-12 halftime lead and won the final two periods as Rayanne Hawk and Kate Whelski each tallied 10 points.

Upper Dauphin was paced by 11 points from Laura Sweger.

Jim Thorpe 76 Weatherly 72

WEATHERLY - Alexis Naranjo netted a game-high 27 points, including four critical free throws in overtime, to help the Olympians escape with a non-league win over the Wreckers.

Cat Condly added 18 points and Nikki Ennis chipped in 11 for Jim Thorpe, which rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit.

Jessica Polchin led Weatherly with 16 points.
