Eagles keep rolling after rout of Bears

ORWIGSBURG - Will Bornstein scored 16 points, while Skyler Panchari added 14 as Blue Mountain started fast and downed Pleasant Valley 54-38 in a non-league boys' basketball contest Saturday.

The Eagles rolled to a 21-7 advantage after the first quarter and led 40-20 at the end of the third.

The victory was the 12th straight for Blue Mountain.

Jarius Hosler paced Pleasant Valley with 10 points.

Tamaqua 66 Lehighton 54

TAMAQUA - Brett Kosciolek scored 20 points as the Raiders qualified for the District 11 Class AAA playoffs with a non-league victory over the Indians.

Russell Blaker added 16 points and Bo Rottet 12 for Tamaqua, which led 39-32 at halftime and held on with 19-13 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter.

North Schuylkill 77 Minersville 55

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS - Matt Manbeck scored 19 points and Tevin Murray added 16 as the Spartans rolled past the Miners in a non-league contest.

Jake Damiter added 14 points and Ryan Hillbish nine for North Schuylkill, which opened the game on a 21-12, first-quarter run and led 51-35 after three quarters.

Dylan Ellinger led Minersville with 15 points.

Williams Valley 55 Millersburg 54

MILLERSBURG - Stephen Sedesse scored a game-high 17 points, including a three-point play late in the game that put the Vikings in the lead for good, as Williams Valley rallied to down the Indians in a non-league contest.

The game was tied at 40 with 5:40 left but Millersburg went on a 10-0 run. The Vikings then came back and tied it at 52-all when Brendan Miller converted a 1-and-1 with 30 seconds left.

After the Indians regained the lead, Sedesse got open underneath and scored on a layup to the tie the game with 12 seconds remaining. He was also fouled on the play and hit the foul shot to give the Vikings the lead.

Ben Rautzahn added 16 points for Williams Valley and Cody Miller 15.

Nativity 45 Pen Argyl 35

PEN ARGYL - Jeff Yordy scored nine of his game-high 18 points in the first quarter as the Hilltoppers got off to good start and downed the Green Knights in a non-league contest.

Kyle Kaledas added 13 points for Nativity, which led 14-4 after the first quarter. Yordy and Kaledas were both 5-for-6 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.

Marian 51 Jim Thorpe 30

HOMETOWN - Nico Agosti had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds as the Colts never trailed and rolled past the Olympians in a non-league contest.

Nick Wesner added eight points for Marian, which built a 27-18 halftime lead.

Bryce Micciche had 12 points to pace Jim Thorpe.

Lourdes 53 Lincoln Leadership 52

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jordan Fobia scored 18 points while Larry Czeponis added 13 points as the Red Raiders inched closer to qualifying for a District 4 Class A playoff berth with a hard-fought win over the Lions.

Lourdes shot 17-for-33 from the foul line in the game.

Palmerton 67 Panther Valley 55

PALMERTON - Kyle Ferryman had a game-high 21 points for the Panthers but a big fourth quarter lifted the Blue Bombers to a non-league victory.

Jake Szczecina added 16 points for Panther Valley, which still needs one victory to qualify for the District 11 Class AAA playoffs.

Spencer Hay scored eight of his 20 points in the fourth quarter for Palmerton, which used a 25-14 scoring advantage in the fourth to pull away and earn its second victory of the season.

Pius X 69 Shenandoah Valley 35

SHENANDOAH - Ian McCole scored 11 points during the Blue Devils' non-league loss to the Royals.

Angelo Maskornick added nine points and 11 rebounds for Shenandoah Valley, which fell behind 24-8 after the first quarter.

Eric Marbury led Pius X with a game-high 23 points.

Antietam 62 Schuylkill Haven 43

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Mike Ulsh scored a game-high 18 points but the Hurricanes dropped a non-league game to the Mountaineers.

MMI 46 Weatherly 36

WEATHERLY - Luke Figas had a game-high 18 points for the Wreckers but the Preppers used a 21-5 fourth-quarter run to come from behind and down Weatherly in a non-league contest.
