HERSHEY - Coy Campbell is a District 3 champion.

The Upper Dauphin junior captured the 113-pound championship Saturday with a 7-2 decision over Trinity's Chase Drawbaugh in the finals at the Hersheypark Arena.

Campbell (27-3) is one of nine area wrestlers who advanced from District 3 to regionals.

Seven Hamburg wrestlers kept their seasons alive with victories in the consolations, while two Upper Dauphin wrestlers advanced: Connor Boyer at 106 and Campbell.

Boyer placed fifth, pinning Camp Hill's Sam Horowitz-Soyos in 2:35 in his final bout.

For the Hawks, Chris Kummerer (132), Cody Miller (182) and Austin Bashore (195) placed third; Sean Stanish (120) took fourth and Kerry Mega (126), Andrew Kochel (145) and Blake Roberts (285) finished fifth.

By placing in the top five, these nine wrestlers advance to the Southeast Regional Class AA Wrestling Tournament to be held next Friday and Saturday at Wilson High School, West Lawn.

Stanish, Kummerer, Kochel, Miller and Bashore dropped semifinal bouts but wrestled back to move on to regionals.

In the consolation finals, Kummerer decisioned Biglerville's Scott Cooper 11-4; Miller routed Boiling Springs' Nate Gouhin 13-4; and Bashore won by disqualification over Schuylkill Valley's Jonathan Tindall. Stanish fell 2-1 to Brandywine Heights' Hunter Gimbor.

Three Hawks also faced must-win fifth-place bouts, and all three came through. Mega topped ELCO's Matt Achey 3-1; Kochel edged Wyomissing's Caleb Naylor 2-1 in the tiebreaker; and Roberts nipped Brandywine Heights' Collin Conrad 3-2 in the ultimate tiebreaker.

The top four placewinners from District 11 and the top three from District 1 also will gather at Wilson to form 12-man brackets at regionals. The top five regional placewinners qualify for the PIAA Championships, scheduled March 6-8 in Hershey.

District 4 Class AA

WILLIAMSPORT - Shamokin heavyweight Adam Miller was the leading finisher among the two area schools at the District 4 Class AA Championships.

Miller, who lost his opening bout at 285 pounds Friday, outlasted Warrior Run's Matt Kilgus 2-1 in the consolation quarterfinals.

The win left Miller one win shy of a top-six finish, but Towanda's Garrett Pratt pinned Miller in 4:35 to eliminate the Indian grappler.

Pratt eventually placed fifth with another fall.

Meanwhile, Shamokin's other entrants - Brett Long (132) and Josiah Miller (145) - each lost their second bouts to finish 0-2.

Mount Carmel's four competitors - Blake Panko (145), Gabe Bogutskie (170), Allen Yancoskie (182) and Wesley Shurock (195) - each went 0-2 in the tournament.

Southern Columbia, which placed third in the team competition won by Benton, was led by champion Kent Lane at 138 pounds. He won the title by injury default over Williamson's Trevor McWhorter.

The Tigers' Blake Marks took second spot at 152 and Todd Lane was third at 120.

Line Mountain fielded one champion, Cameron Newman at 113.
