Tamaqua girls edge Jim Thorpe

JIM THORPE - Monica Shimko (800, 1,600, 3,200) won three events on the track, leading Tamaqua to a narrow 76.5-73.5 Schuylkill League Division I girls' track and field win over Jim Thorpe on Tuesday afternoon.

Morgan Boyle (100, javelin) and Rebecca Minehan (high jump, pole vault) added a pair of wins for the Blue Raiders.

Devon Matz (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) and Maria Donati (long jump, triple jump) were double winners for Olympians.

Sarah Lombel had a role in four victories for Pottsville's girls in its Division I romp over Minersville.

Lombel (100, triple jump, high jump, 400 relay) led the Crimson Tide (1-1, 1-0 Division I) while teammates Shelby Hahner (400, long jump), Makayla Jones (javelin, shot put), Lauren Howell (3,200 relay, 800), Alyssa Kondrack (200, 400 relay) and Madison Sherakas (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) each won twice.

Minersville (0-3, 0-2) was paced by Kaitlyn Glore's victory in the pole vault. The Battlin' Miners also took the 1,600 relay.
