FORESTVILLE - The last time Darrell Lanigan raced at Big Diamond Speedway, he finished third and collected $2,600 in the World of Outlaw Late Models feature in 2009.

Tuesday, the Union, Kentucky, driver did quite better.

Lanigan took the checkered flag and earned $8,000 by winning the "Diamond Shines 40" race for the World of Outlaw Late Models.

Lanigan gained the lead on Lap 25 of the 40-lap feature, passing pole sitter Chub Frank on the outside exiting Turn 2. Frank led the first 25 laps, taking the top spot from his outside pole starting position at the drop of the green flag.

Lanigan led the rest of the way, holding off Rick Eckert over the final 14 laps for his fifth World of Outlaw feature victory this season and seventh overall victory of the year.

The win was also the 58th of Lanigan's World of Outlaw career, tops in the division.

Eckert finished second, followed by Frank, Dan Stone, Eric Wells, Shane Clanton, Jason Covert, Tim McCreadie, Frankie Heckenast Jr. and Morgan "Mo Bags" Bagley.

Lanigan set fast time for the evening in time trials with a lap of 15.968 seconds. Heat races for the 31 Super Late Models in attendance were won by Lanigan, Wells and Clanton. The B-Main was won by Pancho Lawler.

The Savage 61 Roadrunners were also on Tuesday's card, with Chris Holland grabbing his second straight victory.

Holland took the lead at the drop of the green from his outside pole starting spot and never looked back. Action was fast and furious behind Holland, with Jeremy Becker and Andrew Fayash III racing wheel to wheel from their seventh- and fifth-place starting positions.

Terry Kramer Jr. came on strong late, making it a three-car battle for the runner-up spot, but in the end Holland took the victory by a comfortable margin over Becker, Fayash III, Kramer Jr. and two-time winner Tom Hablett.

Heat races were won by Joey Brennan and Holland.

Racing returns to Big Diamond Speedway this Friday for Ken's Tire Night. The Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic 358 Modifieds, U.S.S. Achey Sportsman and Savage 61 Roadrunners will be on the card.

Gates open at 5 p.m., warm-ups start at 7:45 p.m. and the first heat hits the track at 8:15 p.m.
