CRESSONA - Ryley Novinger had three hits and scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the sixth inning as Millersburg edged Cressona 6-5 in a wild, back-and-forth District 24 Little League 11-12-year-old Tournament game Wednesday night.
Winning pitcher Aiden Harman also had three hits and pitched 5.1 innings for Millersburg, which clinches a berth in Saturday's quarterfinals with the victory.
The Pool 2 runner-up, Millersburg (2-2) will travel to Pool 4 champion Saint Clair/Port Carbon/New Philadelphia at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in New Philadelphia.
Railway Park (2-2) will visit Upper Dauphin County (4-0) in the other Pool 2 vs. Pool 4 quarterfinal after Railway Park defeated Upper Schuylkill 14-2 in four innings.
Taylor Stewart had three hits and two RBIs for Cressona (2-2), which trailed 5-3 before scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game. Cressona had the potential go-ahead run cut down at the plate on a controversial call in the fifth.
Minersville 10 Line Mountain 4
MINERSVILLE - Cal Schoffstall, Carter Melochick and Roman DiNicola each had two hits as Minersville (2-2) finished Pool 1 play with a victory over Line Mountain on Tuesday night.
Winning pitcher Nico DiNicola slugged a two-run homer and kept Line Mountain scoreless for 2.2 innings. Minersville scored six runs in the top of the first inning and led from start to finish.
Evan Herb hit two home runs for Line Mountain (0-4), while Ryan Groff had two singles and a double and Colton Smith collected two singles.
9-10-year-olds SPN 18, Minersville 2
SCHOENTOWN - David Cook had three hits and was a triple shy of a cycle to pace a 15-hit attack as SPN clinched the Pool 4 title with victory over Minersville.
Cook hit a three-run homer and added a three-run double as part of SPN's 11-run sixth inning. He was also the winning pitcher, stifling a Minersville attack before running out of pitches in the fifth inning.
Nick Chivinski, Mario Ortiz, Rylen Matlock, Amaree Bainbridge and Victoria Fuss added two hits apiece for SPN. Shivinski had two doubles, while Ortiz and Fuss also hit doubles.
James Chicora had two hits for Minersville, while John Adams hit a double.
Ashland 15 Upper Schuylkill 2
ASHLAND - Jonas McGrath had a double, triple and four runs scored as Ashland remained undefeated in Pool 2 play with a four-inning win over Upper Schuylkill.
Ashland (3-0) will play Millersburg (3-0) for the pool title Sunday.
Tanner Walacavage, Patrick Cooney and Jarrod Ossman had two hits apiece for Ashland. Kelin Geary had two hits to lead Upper Schuylkill (0-3).
