Nittany Lions
named Players
of the Week
STATE COLLEGE — Penn State football players Sam Ficken and DaeSean Hamilton were named Monday by the Big Ten Conference as Players of the Week for their efforts in Penn State’s 26-24 victory over UCF on Saturday in Dublin, Ireland.
Ficken, a senior placekicker, was named Special Teams Player of the Week after he kicked the game-winning field goal, one of his four field goals in the game, on the game’s final play.
Hamilton, a redshirt freshman wide receiver, was selected as Freshman of the Week after he caught 11 passes for 165 yards to break Deon Butler’s 2005 school record of 125 yards receiving against Wisconsin and Maurice Humphrey’s 2003 school mark of eight receptions against Northwestern.
