Soccer: Evitts sets league scoring mark

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Rileigh Evitts set the all-time Schuylkill League girls’ scoring record during Schuylkill Haven’s 6-3 non-league loss to Allentown Central Catholic on Tuesday at Rotary Field.

Evitts, who tied the record of 116 held by Minersville’s Kelsey Weachock on Saturday, broke it during the 27th minute off an assist by Keegan White.

White finished with two goals and gave the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead during the 12th minute. Following Evitts’ goal and a lightning delay, Allentown Central Catholic took the lead with three goals in a 4-minute span to take a 3-2 halftime lead.

White scored on a direct kick during the 43rd minute to tie the game at 3. The Vikings followed with three unanswered goals to set the final.

The Hurricanes outshot ACC 8-7, while Genie Tucci had seven saves for Schuylkill Haven.

Pine Grove 3, OT

PINE GROVE — Josh Delp struck eight minutes into overtime for Tamaqua to lift the Blue Raiders to a Division I victory over the Cardinals.

Pine Grove jumped out to a 3-1 lead thanks to goals by David Snedden, Cameron Shollenberger and Tyler Christiansen before Ben Miller tied the game with back-to-back goals.

Delp’s game-winner, his second of the game, came off a throw-in.

WILLIAMSTOWN — Cody Geiser scored twice for the Olympians in a non-league victory over the Vikings.

Geiser opened scoring in the 11th minute and added a goal on a penalty kick in the 70th.

Luke Morris and Cam Condly also scored for Jim Thorpe, while Olympians keeper Carter Rodriguez made 13 saves.

Peppe Mini recorded the lone goal for Williams Valley.

WEATHERLY — Ed Lukowski notched two goals for Nanticoke in a non-league rout of Weatherly.

Jake Stover scored the lone goal for the Wreckers, who fell in a 6-0 hole at halftime of their first game of the season.

Rees Roberts, Ben Sersen and Winston Goday also scored twice for the Trojans.
