Nativity clinched the Schuylkill League Division IV championship and a berth in the Schuylkill League playoffs Tuesday night by beating the one team which took it to a five-set match this season.

After taking that win on Sept. 4, Tuesday’s match against visiting Minersville went more easily for the Green Wave.

Jocelyn Holobetz had 19 kills, 12 digs and two blocks as Nativity took a 25-19, 25-15, 25-15 win over the Battlin’ Miners atop Lawton’s Hill.

Carley Lionetto added 17 digs and two kills for Nativity and Noelle Steele had 28 assists, nine digs and three aces.

Emily Bartashus recorded five kills and 15 digs for Minersville. Reiley Lonergan had four blocks and Meg Schwalm had 21 digs.

Nativity won the JV match 2-0.

Blue Mountain 3

Jim Thorpe 0

JIM THORPE — Brittney Moyer recorded seven kills, eight digs, and six aces to give Blue Mountain a 25-18, 25-13, 25-18 win over Jim Thorpe in a Division I match which clinched at least a tie for the division crown.

Alex Ferrier finished with seven kills, two blocks and two aces for the Eagles. Maya Throne had 24 digs, and Ashley Snesavage added 25 assists, 13 digs and two aces.

Riley Carroll led the Olympians with 12 assists, three kills and two aces. Erin Shigo added eight kills and 12 digs.

Millersburg 3

Halifax 2

MILLERSBURG — Millersburg edged Halifax 23-25, 25-18, 27-25, 23-25, 15-12 in a Division III match to set up a showdown between the Indians and runner-up Tri-Valley on Thursday.

Millersburg owns a one-game lead over the Dawgs entering Thursday’s match at Hegins.

In Tuesday’s match, Amber Roach led the Indians with 32 assists. Taryn Herb, who had 15 kills, and Kori Hirsch each had 17 digs while Jess Millard had 21.

Amber Laudenslager led Halifax with 15 kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Paige Miller 15 digs, and Autumn Capouillez had 20 assists.

Millersburg won the JV match 2-1.

Mahanoy Area 3

Schuylkill Haven 2

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Noelle Kaufman recorded 29 kills, 22 assists, eight digs and five service points as Mahanoy Area edged Schuylkill Haven 26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 22-25, 15-12 in Division IV action.

Mychaellah Lucas finished with 12 kills, 29 assists and 10 digs for the Golden Bears. Samantha Gnall added 11 service points, and Kiera Burke had 27 digs.

Ashley Ferrando led the Lady Hurricanes with 19 service points, nine digs and four aces.

Schuylkill Haven won the JV match 1-0.

Pottsville 3, Tamaqua 0

Kyra Varano recorded 16 service points and seven kills as Pottsville topped Tamaqua 25-9, 25-5, 25-11 in a Division I match.

Kyra Schenk added five kills, and Leah Guzick had 26 assists for the Crimson Tide.

Vanessa Solt led the Blue Raiders with 12 digs.

Pottsville won the JV match 2-0.

Lehighton 3

North Schuylkill 0

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Alyssa Jordan finished with 14 kills, five digs and one block as Lehighton beat North Schuylkill 26-24, 25-21, 25-20 in a Schuylkill League Division I-II crossover contest that qualified the Indians for the District 11 Class AA playoffs.

Tori Eads-Rodriguez added 15 assists, three kills and three digs for Lehighton.

Lacey Deeter recorded 11 assists and 10 digs for the Spartans.

Lehighton won the JV match 2-0.

Shenandoah Valley 3

Weatherly 0

WEATHERLY — Marcella Creasy finished with eight kills and four service points to lead Shenandoah Valley to a 25-14, 25-16, 25-11 win over Weatherly in a Division IV match.

Alaina Demalis totaled 15 service points, 16 digs and seven aces for the Blue Devils..

Sammy Hartz had five kills for the Lady Wreckers.

Williams Valley 3

Upper Dauphin 2

ELIZABETHVILLE — Bindy Boyer recorded 10 service points, 19 assists and five aces to lead Williams Valley over Upper Dauphin 25-15, 25-19, 25-27, 19-25, 15-10 in a Division III contest.

Maura Kreiser added 20 service points and 10 kills, and Olivia Ancheff had 12 service points, six kills and four aces for the Vikings.

Taylor Brown finished with 12 kills, 12 digs and two aces, Laura Sweger had 12 kills, and Colleen Kolva added 18 assists and four aces for the Lady Trojans.

Upper Dauphin won the JV match 2-1.

Marian 3, Lourdes 0

HOMETOWN — Abby Stankiewitch finished with seven kills as division leader Marian defeated Lourdes 25-6, 25-7, 25-8 in a Division II contest.

Courtney McCall recorded six kills, 11 digs and two aces for Marian. Kaylee Ceci added six kills, four digs and two assists, and Jasmine Mooney had six kills and four digs.

PSU York 3

PSU Schuylkill 0

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Kristina Johnson finished with five kills, five aces and eight digs, but Penn State Schuylkill fell 25-19, 25-14, 25-15 to Penn State York in a collegiate match.

Michelle O’Dell added 11 assists and three kills for PSU Schuylkill.
