ORWIGSBURG — Sadie Cresswell scored five of her 15 points in overtime to lead the Pottsville girls’ basketball team to a Schuylkill League Division I victory, 38-33 over Blue Mountain, on Friday night.

Cresswell added eight rebounds as Pottsville erased a 27-22 deficit entering the fourth quarter to come back and tie the game at 29 at the end of regulation.

Abigail Fanelli had a double-double for Blue Mountain with a game-high 16 points and 10 rebounds. Julia Kutz also had 10 boards for the Eagles.

Schuylkill Haven led 36-25 entering the fourth before Williams Valley held a 31-11 scoring advantage to get the win. .

Emma Schweigert had a game-high 21 points for the Hurricanes, while Amanda Farr added 12.

The Royals tied the game with a 3-pointer to send it into OT, and Jalen Simpson totaled seven foul shots throughout all three extra periods to give Pius X the win.

ESPY — Jeff Yordy scored 27 points to lead Nativity past Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech in the semifinals of the CMVT Tournament.

Columbia County Christian beat Weatherly 47-46 in the other semifinal game and will play the Hilltoppers for the championship today at 7:15 p.m.

Yordy finished with 19 points in the first half. Dominic Piccioni and Cullen Hoppel scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the game for Nativity.

Katie Deegan won the 100 freestyle for the Tide, which also placed first in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Noel Bernardyn (50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) won two events for the Golden Bears, and Kiera Van Horn came in first in the 200 IM.
