Gibble named new

conservation officer

in Schuylkill County

Pennsylvania Game Commission wildlife conservation officer Jason Gibble has been assigned to cover the eastern portion of Schuylkill County.

A recent graduate of the 30th class of the Pennsylvania Game Commission Ross Leffler School of Conservation, Gibble is a native of Lancaster County.

Before beginning his training to become a wildlife conservation officer, he served a tour of duty in Iraq with the United States Army.

Commission to host

basic boating course

A Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Basic Boating Course will be held Monday, April 13, and Wednesday, April 15, from 6-10 p.m., at Beltzville State Park, Lehighton.

There is no charge for the course. However, participants must pre-register by calling the park office at (610) 377-0045 and must attend both sessions.

Keystone Wounded Warriors honor Dietz

Republican-Herald/News-Item outdoors editor Doyle Dietz has been awarded the Keystone Wounded Warriors Certificate of Appreciation for his ongoing and continuous support of outdoors activities and programs for veterans. Making the presentation was retired Army Lt. Colonel and Coaldale native Tom Frendak, the Keystone Wounded Warriors liaison for Schuylkill and Carbon counties.

Frendak made the presentation when a guest on a recent “Experience The Outdoors,” the weekly radio program Dietz hosts. He presented the award on behalf of Keystone Wounded Warriors president Paul Spurgin.
