Lynn hired as PV girls’ hoops coach
LANSFORD — William “Dapper” Lynn has been hired as the Panther Valley girls’ basketball coach.
Kristin Black, the school’s athletic director, confirmed the hiring Friday.
Lynn was an assistant and junior high head coach for nine seasons before Brad Hurley took over the program two seasons ago.
The Panthers were 10-34 overall in Hurley’s two years, 2-24 in Division I.
Lynn, 59, graduated from Panther Valley in 1974.
Howard, Fitzpatrick win Big D features
FORESTVILLE — Duane Howard and T.J. Fitzpatrick won the first two features Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway.
Howard, of Oley, won the 25-lap 358 modified. Fitzpatrick, of Branchdale, took the 20-lap roadrunner feature.

Bears eliminated from AHL playoffs
HARTFORD, Conn. — Andre Burakovsky and Nate Schmidt each scored in their return from the Washington Capitals, but the Hershey Bears fell to the Hartford Wolf Pack 6-3 on Friday to give Hartford a 4-2 series win.
Marek Hrivik recorded a hat trick for the Wolf Pack, with all three goals being set up by Chris Bourque.
