Shane Grapsy had two hits and drove in two runs, while Kyle Emerich and Nick Behm combined on a five hitter as Southern Area downed Pottsville 5-1 in a Schuylkill-Berks Legion League contest Friday at Steidle Field.
Grapsy had an RBI double in the fourth inning and added a run-scoring single in the fifth. Zach Martin also doubled for the A’s, who broke the game open with a four-run fifth.
Emerich went the first five innings to get the win, while Behm struck out all six batters his faced in his two innings of work.
Brandon Daubert drove in the Lions’ only run on an RBI double in the fourth. Pottsville also committed five errors in the game.

NEW SCHAEFFERSTOWN — Despite a huge night from Peter Baddick, Tulpehocken edged Tamaqua by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Baddick went 4-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Blue Sox. Matt Roberts added two doubles and an RBI for Tamaqua.

AUBURN — Brandon Schafer clubbed two home runs to carry Southern Area over Conrad Weiser.
Schafer racked up six RBIs on four hits for Southern Area. He singled in the fourth inning, homered in the first and sixth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the seventh, with seven lead changes.
Southern Area took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. Southern Area scored on an RBI single by Ethan Stump off Frederick Madden, bringing home Trevor Peters.
Jakob Biever also homered and finished with four RBIs for Southern Area.
