TAMAQUA — Hamburg scored the winning run in the top of the sixth inning as the Reds defeated Tamaqua 3-2 in a Schuylkill-Berks American Legion Baseball League game on Saturday.
Tyler Seidel and winning pitcher Ryan Atkinson, who homered, each had two hits for Hamburg.
Atkinson and Ryan Smith combined on a three-hitter. Smith, who also doubled in the game, got the save by getting the final two outs.
Eddie Titus drove home both runs for Tamaqua in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2.

Schuylkill Valley and Tulpehocken standouts were selected Players of the Week by the Schuylkill-Berks Legion League for the week of June 13-19.
Schuylkill Valley is in the thick of the North Division battle thanks to the efforts of Ian McCole, this week’s Schuylkill Player of the Week. The pitcher-shortstop went 7-for-12 (.583), scored two runs and drove in two more. On the mound, he threw a seven-inning complete game, striking out 12.
The surging Tulpehocken Thunder won 3-of-4 games last week thanks to the efforts of their leadoff man and shortstop, Kevin Berry, the Berks Player of the Week. Berry went a scorching 12-for-16 (.750), scoring 12 runs and driving in three.

WEST LAWN — Brandon Schafer went 3-for-3 for Southern Area in its loss to West Lawn in a Berks County Junior American Legion League game.
Schafer doubled in the fourth and sixth innings and drove home both runs.
Trevor Peters also doubled for Southern Area (4-7).
West Lawn (10-1) scored eight runs in the first three innings to take command.
