Local wrap: Junior Teener Tournament semis set

FRACKVILLE — Reggie Crawford, Brandon Rockwell and Michael Little combined on a one-hitter and struck out 13 as top-seeded Frackville Green eliminated Girardville 9-1 in a Schuylkill County Teener League Junior Division Tournament quarterfinal contest.

Crawford allowed one hit and struck out nine in four innings of work before Rockwell and Little finished. Kris Wolfe’s fourth-inning single was Girardville’s only hit.

Max Schally was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Frackville Green (21-2), which hosts No. 4 Branch in tonight’s semifinals. Zach Chowansky, Rockwell and Little each scored a pair of runs.

CRESSONA — J.C. Rodrian and Zack Turnitza each had three hits as Schuylkill Valley Maroon used a pair of big innings to knock out Cressona.

Pat McCord had four RBIs and Turnitza collected three for No. 2 Schuylkill Valley Maroon, which scored six runs in the first inning and five more in the third inning.

Ryan Lindenmuth added two hits for Schuylkill Valley Maroon, which faces No. 6 DeAngelo’s Crimson in today’s semifinals at Schuylkill Haven.

Wednesday’s game was played at Cressona due to Schuylkill Valley’s field being underwater.

LLEWELLYN — Joshua Halye tossed a complete-game four-hitter and Riley Nettles had a key RBI single as No. 4 Branch outlasted No. 5 Hegins Black.

Halye struck out four and was helped by a key 5-4-2 double play to end the first inning.

With the score tied at 1 in the fourth, Nettles’ RBI single put Branch ahead to stay. Scott Schwalm added two hits for Branch.

ELIZABETHVILLE — Landon Mace and Ezriah Hite combined on a two-hit shutout as Upper Dauphin County blanked Pine Grove in a Pool 4 game.

Mace struck out six in four-plus innings, while Hite fanned three.

Isaac Hepler paced a nine-hit attack with two singles, while Logan Williard had an RBI double in the second inning and Landin Hobbs delivered a two-run double in the third.

CRESSONA — Zane Zulkowski, Josh Wislotsky and Nolan Ryan each had three hits as Ashland downed Cressona in a four-inning Pool 1 game.

Peyton Groody, Kieran Keninitz and Collin Stanakis combined to strike out nine for Ashland (1-0).

One of Wislotsky’s hits was a three-run triple.

Pottsville Rotary 13

Upper Schuylkill 2

RINGTOWN — Mike Quirk and Wyatt Selinko combined on a two-hitter, while Chris Chillemi was 3-for-3 during Pottsville Rotary’s four-inning, Pool 3 win over Upper Schuylkill.

Quirk pitched the first three innings, striking out four and allowing two hits. Selinko pitched the fourth.

Chillemi hit two doubles, including an RBI double in the fourth. Selinko also had two hits.

Jeff Markosky and Trevor Minalda each had a hit for Upper Schuylkill.

FRACKVILLE — Fetterholf’s three-run hit triggered a seven-run outburst in the bottom of the fifth inning as Millersburg outslugged Frackville in a wild Pool 2 game.

Grossmeyer had three singles for Millersburg. Drew Miller, Anthony Guerrero, Joe Cuthie and Shawn Butler each had two hits for Frackville.
