TURBOTVILLE — Winning pitcher Kali Woodford hit a two-run single in the first inning as Minersville eliminated Roosevelt Trail 4-2 on Wednesday in the Section 3 11-12-year-old Little League Softball Tournament.
Minersville (1-1) will oppose Berwick, which lost Wednesday to South Williamsport, in an elimination game at 5:30 p.m. today. The winner then must beat South Williamsport twice to win the Section 3 title.
Woodford posted her hit and then scored on Nikki Conville’s fielder’s choice to give Minersville a 3-0 lead.
Minersville then took a 4-0 advantage on Taylor Sekellick’s RBI fielder’s choice.
Roosevelt Trail (0-2) scored a third-inning run and then tallied a sixth-inning run on Laci Norton’s RBI single.
Minersville overcame 12 strikeouts by Roosevelt Trail pitcher Hailey Jayne.
Kenzie Miller had two hits for Roosevelt Trail.

ASHLAND — Nolan Ryan was 2-for-2 with a double and a home run as Ashland defeated Cressona in a four-inning Pool 1 contest.
Kieran Keninitz paced Ashland’s 16-hit attack by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single.
Winning pitcher Collin Stanakis, Jack Keiter, Zane Zulowski and Tim Herring each added two hits for Ashland, which scored 10 runs in the first inning.
Cayden Gavalis and Max Lawler had two singles apiece for Cressona.

PINE GROVE — Will Laskowski was 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and two RBIs as Upper Dauphin County defeated Pine Grove in a four-inning game Tuesday.
Brayden Shadle was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Nic Joseph also had two RBIs for UDC (3-0), which clinched a Pool 1 playoff berth with the win.
Shadle was also the winning pitcher, striking out six and allowing one earned run over three innings. Brady Evans struck out two in one inning of relief.

Southern Area drops doubleheader
MOUNT PENN — Jakob Biever had three hits, including a two-run homer, and four RBIs, but Southern Area suffered a pair of losses to Exeter. Exeter won the first game 7-4 and the second 10-3.
Mac O’Donnell was 3-for-4 with a double in the opener. Nick Yeastadt, Trevor Peters and Bobby Barr had Southern’s hits in the second game.
