Laubach leads Racer Cup points

FORESTVILLE — Hellertown’s Rick Laubach leads the American Racer Cup modified points standings.

Helped by six feature victories at Big Diamond Speedway, Laubach has 649 points to lead the standings based upon a driver’s best 12 finishes at a participating speedway in the American Racer Cup program.

Current Big Diamond points leader Billy Pauch Jr. is third with 629 points while Duane Howard is ninth with 617.

The American Racer Cup program has 13 participating tracks and awards more than $150,000 in cash and prizes to modified and sportsman teams.

Capparell 2nd in

Run for Cannoli

HAZLETON — Marian High School runner Tina Capparell placed second in the Run for the Cannoli on Saturday.

Capparell, who won the 2013 championship, posted a time of 20:34 in the 3.1-mile event to place behind Pringle’s Kelsey Cameron, whose time was 19:25.

Zach Mains, Coatesville, won the overall championship with a course-record time of 15:44.
