PINE GROVE — Michael Elo wasted little time starting the Schuylkill League boys’ soccer season.

The Pine Grove forward scored 19 seconds into Wednesday’s Division I game against Tamaqua, helping the Cardinals to a 6-2 victory over the Blue Raiders.

Elo added another goal in the 24th minute with a rare assist going to Pine Grove goalkeeper Jason Soper.

Cameron Shollenberger had a goal and two assists for the Cardinals, while David Snedden added two goals and an assist.

Riley McHugh and Derian Stianche scored for Tamaqua in the Blue Raiders’ season opener.

Fernando Rivera and Colin Ebling scored twice for the Crimson Tide in their Division I rout of the Spartans at Alumni Field.

Rivera broke an early 1-1 tie with his goal in the ninth minute and Pottsville never looked back.

Maldeen Thomas added a goal and two assists for the Tide.

Rivera also had two assists on goals by Charles Botto and Ebling.

Corey Reinoehl had North Schuylkill’s lone goal.

HAMBURG — Michaela Sturn set up Chyanne Lesher for a 74th-minute winner in the Hawks’ non-league victory over the Bullets.

Lesher early assisted on Sturn’s goal in the 32nd minute to tie the game at 1 after Brandywine’s Autumn Bieber gave the Bullets an early lead with her 5th-minute tally.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Kasey Krammes scored Penn State Schuylkill’s goal, but Penn State Worthington Scranton scored the tie-breaking goal in the 78th minute to claim the win in a Penn State University Athletic Conference match.

Krammes scored an unassisted goal to tie the game in the 55th minute, but Worthington’s Joseph Capooci scored later in the second half to break the deadlock.

PSU-Schuylkill goalkeeper Brad Fryer posted three saves.
