Monday's high school soccer roundup

MINERSVILLE — Abby Schoffstall has been a scoring machine so far this season for the Minersville girls’ soccer team.

Her ninth goal of the season was a key one Monday.

Schoffstall and Rachel Sterner scored first-half goals, and Maggie Wigoda made five saves as Minersville held off Tri-Valley 2-1 in a Schuylkill League Division II match.

The victory kept the Miners (3-0, 2-0 D-II) unbeaten heading into today’s key contest with Schuylkill Haven.

Jess Underkoffler scored the only goal for the Bulldogs, while Madisyn Horn made 12 saves.

Delaney Golden scored twice and assisted on a goal by Hannah Evans to lead the Crimson Tide to a Division I win over the Olympians at Alumni Field.

Evans’ goal in the sixth minute gave Pottsville the early lead before back-to-back goals by Golden in the ninth and 46th minutes.

Catie Coyle added a goal and an assist for the Tide.

Mackenzie Lesh finished with a goal and two assists, while Adrianna Tennis and Coral Kreiser had two assists apiece for the Cardinals, who outshot the Spartans 25-3.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Cole Schwalm tied the game on a goal in the 80th minute, then scored the game-winner 5 minutes into overtime as Penn State Schuylkill came from behind twice to edge Central Penn.

Tosin Olagunju and Adam Wessner both recorded a goal and an assist, and John Toe also scored a goal in the Lions’ win.

Dino Santiague finished with two goals for the Knights.
