Zemco team wins Port Royal title
PORT ROYAL — The Zemco Motorsports team based in Tower City clinched the Port Royal Speedway 410 sprint car championship Sunday night.
The car, owned by John and Pee Wee Zemaitis and driven by Mechanicsburg’s Lucas Wolfe, placed fourth in the 48th annual Tuscarora 50 feature.
Winning two features during the season, Wolfe finished the season with 6,250 points, while track runner-up Dylan Cisney had 6,085.
LVC’s Patrick
earns 2nd MAC weekly honor
ANNVILLE — Lebanon Valley College senior and Tamaqua grad Kelsey Patrick was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Women’s Runner of the Week for the second straight week, the conference announced Monday.
Patrick was the top non-Division I finisher at Penn State’s Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational held Friday night. Patrick finished 15th in 22:29, just ahead of NCAA Division III All-American Emily Rabenhold of Grove City College.
Patrick was named the MAC Women’s Runner of the Week and the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Athlete of the Week last week after winning LVC’s Dutchmen Invitational in a 5K course-record time of 18:22.42.

shares Big Ten
freshman award
STATE COLLEGE — Penn State running back Saquon Barkley was selected as the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
A Whitehall grad, Barkley rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown in the Nittany Lions’ 27-14 win over Buffalo. He shared the honor with Michigan State running back L.J. Scott.
