Union shut out Dynamo, Horst
CHESTER — The Philadelphia Union shut out the Houston Dynamo 2-0 on Sunday at PPL Park despite two good first-half scoring chances for Pine Grove graduate David Horst.
The Houston center back got his head to a second chance from a corner in the 35th minute that deflected off a Philadelphia defender and was swept away by keeper John McCarthy before crossing the line.
Three minutes later, Horst headed Brad Davis’ corner just over the crossbar.
Sebastian Le Toux set up Tranquillo Barnetta in the 3rd minute to put the Union ahead 1-0. C.J. Sapong rocketed in a shot in the 63rd minute for a two-goal cushion.
