High School Girls' Soccer Roundup for Sept. 19

WILLIAMSTOWN — Junior Autumn Calnon scored the go-ahead goal and then assisted on another as Williams Valley took over first place in Division II with a 3-1 Schuylkill League girls’ soccer victory Saturday morning.

Calnon scored off a cross by Erica Wessner 21 minutes into the game to break a 1-1 tie. About 10 minutes later, Calnon set up Caitlyn Pinchorski to make it 3-1.

Rayanne Hawk scored the Vikings’ first goal on a penalty shot in the 12th minute, while Tri-Valley’s Emily Schwalm tied the game at 1 in the 19th.

With the win, the Vikings (5-2, 5-0 D-II) moved into first in the division, two points ahead of Minersville (5-0, 4-0). The Miners’ game against Lourdes on Saturday was postponed.

Jackie Condly added two goals for Jim Thorpe, while Camille Principe had a goal and two assists. The Olympians built a 6-0 advantage before North Schuylkill’s Jacquie Kane scored with 8 minutes left in the game to set the final.
