North Schuylkill graduate Carson Long will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Holiday Inn East, Harrisburg.
The date of the induction ceremony was incorrectly listed in a recent Republican-Herald story about Long.
STATE COLLEGE - For the second time in three weeks, Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg has been selected the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Hackenberg was 21-of-28 for 262 yards and a touchdown in the Nittany Lions' 34-31 loss to Central Florida on Saturday at Beaver Stadium.
For the season, Hackenberg is 66-of-92 for 851 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He also received Big Ten freshman honors after Penn State's season-opening win over Syracuse.
