BETHLEHEM - Pottsville senior Paige Stoner placed second in the 1-mile run at Saturday's PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival at Lehigh University.

Stoner finished in 5:07.03, 4 seconds behind winner Elizabeth Chikotas of Saucon Valley, who crossed the tape in 5:03.03. Stoner's finals time was more than 12 seconds faster than her seed time of 5:19.65.

A total of 149 schools participated in Saturday's event, which is a prelude to the Pennsylvania state indoor track championships.

TOWER CITY - The Williams Valley boys' and girls' basketball teams were able to raise $2,597 through their annual Pink Out games held this season. The money will be donated to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition in memory of Nadine Buggy Miller, a well-known officer of many booster groups who passed away several years ago.
