Tide shut out Comets

Morgan Alisauckas, who recently announced she will continue her softball career next season at NCAA Division I's Mount St. Mary's University, went 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs, one RBI and four stolen bases as Pottsville opened its season Monday with a 4-0 non-league victory over Crestwood.

While Alisauckas sparked the offense for the Crimson Tide with half of her team's hits, winning pitcher Sara Tobin hurled a one-hit shutout while striking out three and walking three.

Caitlyn Herndon also rapped a two-run single in the third inning to double Pottsville's lead to 4-0 after the Crimson Tide tallied twice in the opening frame.

Hamburg 13 Northern Lebanon 3

HAMBURG - Erica Lutz went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to power Hamburg to a non-league victory over Northern Lebanon.

Rebecca Blatt added two singles and three RBIs, while Darlene Ruiz went 2-for-3 with a double for the Hawks.

Paige Lesher pitched a two-hitter to pick up the win in the circle.

H.S. Baseball Pine Grove 13 Annville-Cleona 5

ANNVILLE - Three players collected three RBIs each as Pine Grove evened its season record at 1-1 with a victory over host Annville-Cleona.

Jed Blankenhorn, Steve Zimmerman and Brian Reichert each drove home three runs, including a pair each on two-run singles by Blankenhorn and Zimmerman in the Cardinals' five-run fifth inning. Reichert finished with three hits while Zimmerman and Nick Cataldo each had two for the winners.

Kobe D'Agostino was the winning pitcher with three runs allowed in four innings.

Annville-Cleona was led by doubles from Zach Southall and Colton Long.

Hamburg 4 Minersville 2

HAMBURG - Dave Pedron hit an RBI single in the fifth inning, and Cody Bettinger added another RBI single in the sixth, but the Battlin' Miners dropped a non-league decision to the Hawks.

Ryan Atkinson went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Hamburg.

Emmaus 12 Blue Mountain 3

EMMAUS - Sean Greenawalt drove in two runs, including an RBI double in the third, but the Eagles dropped a non-league contest to the Green Hornets in a game called after five innings.

Greenawalt's first-inning single drove in Shane Grapsy, and his third-inning double sent Grapsy across the plate. Greenawalt scored Blue Mountain's other run on a wild pitch.
