Raiders rally by Lehighton

LEHIGHTON - Taylor Fritz scored on a throwing error to third base in the bottom of the seventh inning, allowing Tamaqua to beat Lehighton 8-7 in its season-opener Thursday.

The Blue Raiders trailed 7-6 going into the bottom of the seventh before Fritz singled to score Alexis Boyer. Brianna Wittig doubled to advance Fritz to third.

Boyer went 3-for-5 and Fritz finished with three RBIs on two hits.

Kelsey Andrews went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Indians.

Upper Dauphin 14 Juniata 3

ELIZABETHVILLE - Taylor Brown went 2-for-2 and allowed three runs on two hits pitching for the Trojans, who defeated Juniata in five innings in their Tri-Valley League opener.

Amber Bingaman and Autumn Walker each hit triples for the Trojans, who tallied seven runs in the bottom of the first and took a 14-0 lead into the top of the fifth.

Schuylkill Haven 13 Jim Thorpe 1

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Emma Schweigert went 3-for-3 and collected six RBIs to lead Schuylkill Haven to its first win of the season in a non-league game.

Sarah Personette had a two-run triple in the second inning and Elizabeth Bayliff went 3-for-4 in the five-inning win for the Hurricanes.

Daniel Boone 2 Pottsville 0

Gabby Willman hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to lead Daniel Boone past Pottsville in a non-league game.

Bekah Slattery pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out 14 for the Blazers.

Sara Tobin had 13 strikeouts for the Crimson Tide, while Rachael Setlock had their only hit.

Hamburg 11 Fleetwood 1

HAMBURG - Courtney Graham hit a three-run home run in the first inning and went 2-for-3 with four RBIs as Hamburg beat Fleetwood in a Berks League game.
